The 7 Factors of Awakening (Buddhist Tradition)
In traditional Theravada Buddhism, meditation cultivates seven specific awakening factors (Bojjhanga) that build sequentially toward realization:
1- Mindfulness (Sati): Constant, present-moment awareness.
2- Investigation (Dhamma-vicaya): The probing of truth and understanding how the mind works.
3- Energy (Viriya): Effort and vigor in your practice.
4- Rapture (Pīti): Joy, bliss, and happiness arising from concentration.
5- Tranquility (Passaddhi): Calming the mental chatter and experiencing profound inner peace.
6- Concentration (Samādhi): Deeply focused, one-pointed awareness.
7- Equanimity (Upekkhā): Unshakeable balance, emotional stability, and letting go.
